Although I have been asked to write this review for Miss Kathryn McCarthy, I would also like to acknowledge the receptionist (I didn’t get his name) and the team that looked after me on the day of my procedure: Fran (admission), Rob & Connie (nurses) and Lois (recovery). Where do I begin… Miss McCarthy and the team showed compassion, kindness, and genuine care throughout my procedure. I am an anxious patient (I cry A LOT) with a fear of pain and find any medical appointments stressful. The procedure that I had was the first invasive one that I have undergone without the support of a loved one. The nurses were friendly, chatty and comforting, which helped me to relax and feel at ease. I thought Miss McCarthy was also friendly and I particularly appreciated that she was discreet when initially beginning the procedure as this further put me at ease. There were moments in the procedure that caused discomfort, but this was handled efficiently with medication. I was grateful to have a brief report given to me by Miss McCarthy at the end of procedure, so that I did not have a long wait for results. I felt very attended to during recovery, where nothing was too much trouble. It did not take long to feel okay in myself and be discharged. Overall, I did not feel at any point embarrassed and I thought the procedure went well. The Prime Endoscopy Bristol team are phenomenal in the care that they provide.

Miss McCarthy really listened and understood all my concerns. She explained everything clearly. A wonderful person and doctor and if I ever have to have more procedures/surgery I would want her to do it. The nurses and other staff were all wonderful too.

From my experience there is nothing to improve. Right from reception to theatre the whole team were amazing. The nurses made me feel so relaxed considering i was very nervous and they were so caring, helpful helpful and very efficient. When i got to theatre, miss McCarthy was so calming, she answered any questions i asked and made me feel more relaxed. She was so down to earth and very professional which made me trust her and all the nurses on her team 100%.Thanks to all of you Michael Tanner

Privileged to have Kathryn McCarthy perform the colonoscopy 19th October 2020. Normally the consultant does not do the procedure but one of the team. Kathryn was very friendly and explained what was being done and what would happen to follow up. Her team of nurses were also very kind and friendly. What was particularly good on this occasion was the time of arriving for my appointment and discharge was less than two hours. Normally this can be between three and four hours. I cannot praise enough the NHS staff working in the midst of the Covid-19

Miss McCarthy was excellent during my operation. I felt completely confident in her care. She made sure I was comfortable during the whole procedure. I would not hesitate to recommend her.
